Summary: Thailand has officially sent off its athletes for the 20th Asian Games in Nagoya, encouraging them to compete with determination, discipline, and sportsmanship while serving as ambassadors of Thai culture.

Thailand’s national athletes and officials received an official send-off on September 10 ahead of the 20th Asian Games Nagoya 2026, which will take place in Japan from September 19 to October 4.

Representing Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, Minister of Tourism and Sports Surasak Phancharoenworakul urged Team Thailand to compete with respect for the rules, fairness, and integrity. He encouraged athletes to accept both victory and defeat with dignity while building friendships with competitors from across Asia.

Surasak also highlighted the role of athletes as cultural ambassadors. Beyond competing for medals, he said Team Thailand has an opportunity to showcase Thai traditions, values, and hospitality to an international audience during the Games.

While medal success remains an important objective, officials emphasized that sportsmanship, discipline, and national pride are equally important. Thai fans have also been encouraged to support the national team throughout the competition as Thailand aims for a strong performance on Asia’s biggest sporting stage.
